Another band that's on its way to maturity is
Kilroy. Formed three months ago, the band has one focus: to play mostly original, catchy rock music throughout Oahu.

The story begins with guitarist
Richard Barber. Upon moving to Oahu last year from Dubai, he posted ads to find musicians who shared his same musical vision. This is where Todd "TC" Anthony, a bass player from Waipahu, contacted him. From there, Anthony enlisted his fellow military colleague Claude Paddock on drums and Doyle Purdy rounded out the group as its vocalist.

"We have some chemistry going with the music we create," says Purdy. "Seems every time we meet to rehearse, something great happens."

Kilroy recently went to Highway Recording Studio in Hawaii Kai to record four demo tracks. This is step one in the group's New Year's goal to eventually record a debut full-length album.

"I hope that our catchy tunes coupled with meaningful lyrics about real-life issues will strike a chord with some people," says Barber. "We're not strictly categorizable into any well-defined genre - we're not metal, we're not thrash, we're not a cover band. We're four guys who share an appreciation of driving riffs, catchy melodies and infectious rhythms - all wrapped up as hard rock."
